Steve
and his lovely wife, Liz, came
to River Cottage in June 2010 to relax, do some painting, and for
Steve, to drop a line in the river when the mood suited him. Little
did he know that during the fortnight stay his personal best records
for carp, bream and roach bream hybrids would tumble in quick
succession. It seemed that everytime Sam visited Steve bankside he
would have either just caught or released a lovely fish. We look
forward to seeing Steve and Liz in the future. I am sure Steve is now
planning to come back and break some more records. Well done Steve.

STEVE's ACCOUNT: "Tackling an
unknown water with high expectations can often lead to
disappointment. I am happy to say that my trip to Sam's stretch of
water just outside the door from our cosy cottage surpassed my hopes
and dreams. I have broken my personal best bream record twice,
firstly with a 7lb 7oz beast and then later in the week I smashed it
again with one of 8lb 3oz. I caught several other bream weighing in
from 3.5lb to 6lb 10oz. Roach too many to mention but all in cracking
condition up to about 1lb. Also caught some roach/bream hybrids, up
to 3lb 2oz. The crowning glory was a 19lb carp, my first river carp,
and what a battle that was. All fish were caught on sweetcorn
ledgered on a light swimfeeder."
