Peach Fishing on St Michel Reservoir (Lac du Brennilis)

Predator fishing is the fastest growing freshwater angling pursuit in Brittany with many game fishermen keen to try out the latest lures and techniques on their favourite toothy critter. With a large reservoir to explore either by shore fishing, wading, or boat fishing, you may not even bump into another angler on any particular day. Also, don't be surprised if you catch a specimen perch or big rainbow trout during your quest for pike too!

St Michel reservoir or Lac du Brennilis is Finistère's premiere fishing reservoir at 450+ hectares. It is teaming with fly and lure-snapping pike whose brilliant side livery are like no other as Sam's clients have discovered in the past. By far the best way to get the most out of your pike-fishing is by boat (equipped with electric motors only) or wade so you can cover as much productive shoreline as possible. The pike fishing season for 2007 on the reservoir starts from mid May and continues to the end of December. The pike season was extended by one month this year to ensure that the majority of the gravid females had laid there eggs.

Pike over 15 kilos have been caught on this lake. Some examples of some specimen pike are provided on this page so you don't think Sam is joking when it comes to the size and beauty of St Michel pike. Also visit the gallery above for more pics.

Pike Fishing in the Nantes to Brest Canal (River Aulne section)

Pike love weir pools. On the Nantes-to-Brest canal sections of the rivers, Hyere and Aulne, there are an abundance of good weir pools to choose from. Sam has details on hand to help you make an informed decision depending on the time of year you come and fish. Pike and zander season on the Aulne starts in January then is haulted from February to the beginning of May to allow for more successful reproduction, then fishing recommences in mid May and continues to the end of December.

Please remember that the minimum keeper length for both Pike is 60cm.
