Sam, is
a fully-licensed and insured professional fishing guide
or 'guide de pêche professionnel' (siret no.481 133 023 00012)
specialising in fly and lure fishing for fresh- and saltwater
gamefish. Besides having 38 years of game, coarse and predator
fishing experience, Sam also holds a PhD
in fish anatomy, biology and evolution which he received from
University College London in 2002.
Since
January 2005, Sam has been a member of the Council of Administrators
for the Châteaulin Fishing Association (Châteaulin
AAPPMA). He is also an official 'Depositaire' selling all required
freshwater fishing licenses.
Sam is
an ardent supporter of 'catch and release' fishing, where the
photograph, CD album, video, or website pic becomes the primary
trophy. However, those visiting anglers who are passionate about
keeping a spring salmon, bass, or shad for the table are welcome to
do so.
Sam's
fishing and casting talents have been showcased in UK fly fishing
magazines such as Trout Fisherman and Fly Fishing
and Fly Tying, in French newspapers, (e.g. Le Telegramme
and Le Progrés), on satellite channels with the
French outdoors magazine, Seasons, and most recently in Finistère
Passionnément, one of Brittany's finest outdoor-themed
magazines produced by Bretagne Magazine.
Sam is
also seasoned casting instructor and tournament caster with
competitive experience at British and World level. In August 2005,
Sam was certified by the IGFA as the 'all-tackle'
and 'fly-caught' world record holder
for the Allis
shad which
was caught in the lower reaches of the Aulne river.
