Happy release: one of many sea bass
caught on the fly while wading our beaches

Even Sam's red bandana didn't stop this
sea bass from slamming his Breton Crevette fly

Questions to answer...

Do you want to fly fish for roaming wild fish? Do you want to wade in clear water and golden sand? Do you enjoy the challenge of casting into waves, current and wind, to maximise your pleasure when you get that tug at the other end? Do you simply want to enjoy yet another fly fishing experience? Do you love dining on one of the finest of sea fishes?

If the answer is yes to any of the above, then welcome to sea bass fishing on the fly. While others are burning themselves on the beach to various degrees of crispiness, you can be casting to and setting your hooking into yet another silver darling.

Morning or evening sessions are ideal for catching sea bass at local beaches, although Sam's first legal bass on the fly in 2006 came at midday in broad daylight with loads of swimmers frolicking about. All tackle, waders, flies etc. can be provided as part of your angling package. Again, as with the mullet, the majority of our bass are caught on Sam's colourful Breton Crevette flies (see bottom pic below).

strong incoming spring tide

While all others are chucking their lures, you
can sneak a fly right under them to catch
hungry sea bass

No need to chuck big flies at sea bass as they will readily take
these little morsels on the drift

Sammy's gummy minnows

For those fly fishers who aren't philosphically aversed to casting
things which don't contain fur or feather, these gummy minnows
tied by Sam work especially well among rips and beach edges
